What To Do Wednesday: Extra Buttons

by Kristin on April 27, 2011

I have been wanting to do these forever now! I am not quite sure why I waited… these could not be more simple to make!

Do you ever craft and realize you do not have the right color embellishment you want? Next time pull out your extra buttons and make your own!

Start with some supplies:

  • various shaped buttons
  • floral wire
  • wire cutter
  • paper flowers
  • glue dot

The first step is to pick out some buttons you wish to use. You will want each button to be a different size so you can stack them!

Using your floral wire, start to run your wire through one of the holes on each of your buttons.

Next you will bend our wire around to loop it through the opposite button holes.

Chinch those buttons tight up against the top loop and give your wire a twist.

You can leave your button flower like this if you wish, but I wanted to add a little paper flower behind it, which I secured to the buttons with a Zots Glue Dot to keep it all secured!

If you want, you can put some floral tape around the stems if you plan to display then in a jar or vase. I am going to use mine on a craft project at some point, so I did not wrap mine. See… didn’t I tell you these were simple to make!

I had thought about even putting a litte ribbon bow at the center of my top button, but I loved how it looked all ready, so I may experiment with that more later. Have fun creating and using up some of your buttons! Looking forward to hearing from each of you on how much you enjoyed making these adorable embellishments!
